MASSIMO MORATTI RECEIVES PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR AWARD

Honorary president collects prestigious accolade at ceremony organised by Lombardy Group of Sports Journalists (GLGS)

MILAN - FC Internazionale honorary president Massimo Moratti picked up the 'Personality of the Year' award at a ceremony organised by the Lombardy Group of Sports Journalists (GLGS) last night.

Massimo Moratti was called onto the stage to receive the prestigious prize, "For having continued the heritage of his father Angelo's Grande Inter side, for patiently building another great Inter team while navigating through what were at times rough waters, and finally for the courage shown in making the difficult decision to turn the page and begin a new chapter in Nerazzurri and Italian football history."

Speaking about his new life as honorary president, Moratti stated: "I have to tell you sincerely that every now and then I feel a bit embarrassed, either because I feel the temptation to show up and make a decision or because I withdraw too much and feel like a wallflower. I need to find some balance but that might never happen [smiling]. Perhaps now I’m in the fans’ shoes so I might not come off so well giving advice.

"Is it true there’s a buy-back clause for the club in Erick Thohir’s contract? No, but as in all contracts there are certain clauses that, if not complied with, give someone the right and the duty to take back the club. But I really don’t think that’s a scenario that would suit Mr Thohir, also considering how much he loves this new adventure. I can tell he’s very attentive when it comes to doing a good job."
