MILAN - Sporting director Piero Ausilio spoke to Sky Sport Italia before Inter v Sassuolo.
Here's what he had to say:
"Is it a special evening because it's my first in charge of the technical area? No, nothing's changed for me, I've been at Inter for 16 years. The fact I'm the only person in charge on the technical side doesn't make any difference. Marco Branca is a friend of mine, he won 15 titles with Inter, and it was an honour and a pleasure to manage the technical area with him. I hope I can do as well.
"Did we hold the last few training sessions at San Siro because of superstition? When things don't go well, you try to look at every small detail, Mazzarri's very attentive to all that, being the great worker that he is: he's trying to change something in the lads' mindset too.
"Now you have to realise that things aren't going well but we want and intend to turn things around. The coach is working really hard with the squad, along with his staff, to raise everyone's performance levels. I don't think it's right to talk targets, we need to live in the here and now: this could be the right route to go down.
"All the defenders in our squad are good players, today the coach has gone for a different option which relates to the player's specific attributes. Samuel plays tonight for instance, but we can't talk about reserves, all of our players are top class.
"The message we've sent out with the signings of D'Ambrosio and Hernanes is to look toward the future. For different reasons they are two deals we could have put back until June. But we needed something in the team, like signing D'Ambrosio immediately for example. We had an agreement with the player and president Cairo's club, we acted correctly and respectfully to move the deal along.
"Hernanes is class, he can make the difference right away, bringing forward a deal we could have made in June will definitely help us out."
