Inter and Chievo: yet to receive a penalty in their favour
After Week 19, Inter and Chievo remain the two teams of the 2013/14 season that have yet to receive a penalty in their favour, now that both Parma and Atalanta received their first ones on Saturday at Livorno and yesterday afternoon against Catania respectively. The last time the referee whistled a penalty in Inter’s favour was last 8 May; the spot kick was subsequently missed by Alvarez. Since then, 20 league games have passed. The last penalty Chievo received took place last 16 February, which Thereau converted in Chievo 1-1 Palermo. Since then 31 games have passed.

Inter and Chievo: yet to score in 2014
Inter scored their last goal in 2013 with Palacio’s 87th-minte back-heel in Inter 1-0 AC Milan on 22 December. The team failed to find the net in Rome last Monday (0-1 at Lazio in the Serie A) and at Udinese (0-1 in the Coppa Italia). The last time the Nerazzurri went two consecutive matches without scoring was in March 2013 against Tottenham in London (0-3 in the Europa League) and at home to Bologna (0-1 in the league). Chievo has not managed to find the net for 261 minutes: their last goal came courtesy of Thereau on 9 minutes in the Serie A’s Torino 4-1 Chievo last 22 December. To that we add the remaining 81 minutes and the matches against Cagliari (0-0 in Verona in the Serie A) and Fiorentina (0-2 in Florence in the Coppa Italia).

One home win for each
This will be the third competitive match between Walter Mazzarri and Eugenio Corini, who each boast one victory. The previous two took place in the 2012/13 Serie A season, when Mazzarri was at the helm of Napoli and Corini was on the bench at Chievo.

Mazzarri’s teams always score at home against Chievo
As a coach, Walter Mazzarri has faced the Gialloblù a total of 18 times, with a record of 5 wins, 6 draws and 7 losses. Also of interest is the fact that, so far, the teams guided by Mazzarri have always found the net in home matches against Chievo, for a total of 12 goals scored.

A defeat for Corini in the only previous meeting
There has been one competitive meeting between Eugenio Corini as a coach and Inter: last 10 February 2013 in the Serie A when Chievo were defeated 1-3 in Milan.
