MILITO: "I WISH INTER FANS ALL THE BEST, THEY DESERVE IT"

To Mediaset Premium: "Injury is behind me but year 2013 has been really hard for me; great to hear Mazzarri rates me. Just thinking about coming back"

MILAN - The holidays are coming and it's time to be around your loved ones. At times like this you can never hear "Merry Christmas" too often. And Diego Milito wanted to send his best wishes to the Nerazzurri fans: "I wish them all the best, they deserve it," said the striker to Mediaset Premium.

2013 is drawing to a close, a year Milito defines as "really hard, a very weird and horrible year for me, due to the injuries. The knee injury was the worst of my career. A very difficult year. And now I can no longer bear to be out, to train on my own. I can't wait for the new year to begin."

How far can Inter go in this new year? Can't they make the top three? Here's what Diego had to say: "We'll try, when you're at Inter you need to aim high but you must also be aware that there are a lot of new players, youngsters, the team is in transition, and you need to have patience. Will I be the January signing? I hope so."

What about Milito's relationship with Walter Mazzarri and his future? "I'm pleased Mazzarri rates me. He's been honest and open with me since day one, that's how he's always behaved. My future? All I can think about is playing again, there's not a moment goes by that I'm not thinking about going back to playing, that's all I can think about. Would I accept any deal? It wouldn't be a problem, I feel great here at Inter, they love me, it's my home. I like it here but I don't know what will happen in the future."

Milito was then asked if Icardi will one day be his successor? "Everyone has their own playing style, we're talking about a young player who needs to improve but he has enormous potential."

Finally a word on Erick Thohir and Massimo Moratti: "We still don't know president Thohir very well, so we can't say a lot but he's made a good impression. What is it like no longer having Moratti as president? It's a bit weird, he is Inter, he's been incredible and he always will be. He's always close to the team and will continue to be."
