MASSIMO MORATTI: "INTERESTING MEETING, MARONI NICE AND THOHIR OPEN"

Following their visit to Palazzo Lombardia: "Thohir is very involved and has a great desire to work"

MILAN - Here's what Nerazzurri honorary president Massimo Moratti had to say following his meeting with Roberto Maroni and Erick Thohir at Palazzo Lombardia:

How did the meeting go?
"It was very interesting. Maroni was very kind and our Thohir was nice and frank."

You spoke about the stadium, obviously?
"Yes, the possibility of that was mentioned and above all he told us about Expo."

What have you made of Erick Thohir after his first few days here?
"Thohir's very involved and has a great desire to work, and that's important for everyone."

The importance he gives to young players shows continuity from your approach...
"This has always been important and Thohir is happy with the set-up. Of course if it works, it means you don't always need to go and buy overpriced players. But I believe Thohir intends to keep Inter at the level the club is competing at and that's great."

How are you finding your new role?
"It's a wonderful holiday [laughing]! No, no, we're all busy."

And is Thohir open to a new stadium?
"Thohir has shown he's open to understanding what it's about."

And what about Zanetti as vice-president?
"Zanetti is still playing, for another 4-5 years. Let him play."

It seems like you and Thohir are moving towards a partnership.
"Of course we collaborating, we're collaborating in the sense that he's just arrived, he's someone new and he's trying to intelligently understand everything he needs to and I'm more than happy to help, whilst being aware of what our roles are."
