BRANCA: "PRESIDENT THOHIR HAS SET OUT THE GUIDELINES, WE'RE WORKING ON THEM"

Technical director spoke after he and Piero Ausilio met with Erick Thohir: "We didn't go into much technical detail because he had lots of things to do"

MILAN - (ANSA) "Today the president set out the guidelines for how he wants our club to be structured, so we're working towards that from today. We didn't go into too much technical detail because he had lots of things to do." That's what Marco Branca said after a meeting with Inter's new president Erick Thohir and sporting director Piero Ausilio at club headquarters.

Asked about future objectives, Branca continued: "Reaching the 2016 Champions League final would be in line with a logical timescale. A big club must always aim to battle down to the wire and always be competitive."

The technical director was also asked about his own future: "You lot have spent more time talking about it than I've given it thought. I've been thinking about my day-to-day work and the good of the team. I don't talk about desires, I'm used to giving my best for my club at all times."

Branca also dismissed the rumours linking him with Paris Saint-Germain and urged for caution when it comes to youngsters: "Talking about them too much heaps responsibility on their shoulders and places the blame on them and those who pick them. I think the fans need to trust the club and the responsibility it has."

Finally Branca reserved words of gratitude towards Massimo Moratti: "I don't think I need to say anything publicly about what all our fans think of my ex-president and now our honorary president. He did something unimaginable for the Inter fans. It had been years since the club had won so much. He forked out a lot of his own resources so there's a lot of appreciation for our honorary president."
