ZANETTI: "DEDICATED TO MASSIMO MORATTI"

Nerazzurri skipper after making his first appearance since April: "Pleased to be back and that it coincided with an important win"

MILAN – Inter's 2-0 triumph over Livorno marked Javier Zanetti's comeback after almost six months on the sidelines following his Achilles injury. The skipper was all smiles as he spoke after the final whistle:

"It was a great feeling. It wasn't easy coming back at the age of 40 after six months out. But immediately after my injury I said I wanted to come back and play in front of my fans again. I want to thank the Interisti for all the love they've shown me, and I thank the president, the coaching staff and everyone else who has given me so much support. I'm pleased to be back and that it coincided with an important win.

"The bond between myself and the president goes way beyond our professional relationship. He deserves all the applause he gets for everything he's done for Inter, and for what he and his family feel for the club. I dedicate this win to him and I'm going to give him my shirt.

"We want to be challenging for something important. I don't know what exactly but I know we can go a long way.

"I haven't spoken to the coach yet about what position I might play in. For the moment I'm just focusing on reaching peak fitness again. My team-mates are doing brilliantly and I'll try to lend a hand. I can offer an option from the bench."
