CAGLIARI - inter.it spoke to Salvatore Cerrone after the Primavera's 3-2 win over Cagliari in Sardinia today.
This is what the Nerazzurri Primavera coach had to say:
"We were up against a tough team and it was a difficult pitch to play on - the turf itself, I mean. They got under our skin and stopped us from playing our game, knowing how we like to play. We did well in the first half. We were clinical to take the two chances we had, then we had another with Capello. Apart from the first five minutes where they had us on the back foot for a while, we were always in charge of the game.
"In the second period we got the third goal from the spot and then we just switched off completely, I don't know why. If it's because we thought the points were in the bag at 3-0 then that's really not on, because the match lasts 94 minutes. We couldn't keep hold of the ball after that and lost control of the game. We lost our heads but fortunately we remained alert at the back – Di Stefano and Pinton especially. They were a reassuring presence for the rest of the defence.
"But as I said, if those last 35 minutes were because we felt we'd already won then I'm not happy. What I did like today was our first-half performance: we need to be as ruthless as that all the time. It's three big points if you look at the table but I expect a lot more from these lads. We can't just turn the lights out when we think we've won.”
