TAIDER: "INTER, A DREAM! EMOTIONAL ON MY DEBUT"

Excerpt from our interview with Saphir Taider, hosted by Nagaja Beccalossi and Roberto Montani on InterNOS. To air on Inter Channel tonight at 21:00

MILAN – "My dream is to win a lot of trophies with Inter. We’re just at the beginning and I still have a lot to do to keep making progress." The opening statements from Saphir Taider, hosted by Nagaja Beccalossi and Roberto Montani on InterNOS, to air this evening on Inter Channel at 21:00.

Here are some more statements from this fascinating encounter on Inter Channel:

"My idol as a youngster? It was my big brother, who’s also a professional footballer. I always went to the stadium to watch him and it’s also thanks to him that I’m a footballer today. I always used to go to Toulouse to watch him play! Now he’s playing in the top division in Slovenia.

"My mother always followed me and wanted me to do well in school so I could have a good future. Now that I’m a professional footballer she’s my number one fan.

"To be at Inter is a dream come true. This is a great team. Since I was a kid I've wanted to be part of a top club, and now I’d like to win a lot of trophies to make the most of this experience. I was 19 when I came to Italy, and at such a young age I hoped to make it to a big club as quickly as I could. That was my goal.

"The Inter player who has made the biggest impression on me is captain Zanetti. When I was at Bologna they told me he was physically a very impressive player. Now that I’ve seen him up close I can tell you it’s true. It’s not ordinary to keep up that kind of form at 40 years old.

"The most emotional moment for me was my debut as a starter at home against Juventus. Playing in a full stadium like that in such a match was something really stunning. People just can’t imagine what it’s like to be on the pitch, the energy, the fan support…

"I chose the Algerian national team because, even though I was born and grew up in France, I’ve always felt Algerian. My family is happy with my choice. I often go to Algeria and take advantage of this opportunity when I’m with the national team. Everything’s more difficult in Algeria. There are fewer opportunities for young players, and the talented players aren’t developed. But slowly they’re getting there and the country is making progress at a footballing level."
