CARRIZO: "A DRAW NOT WHAT WE WANTED"

"We kept pushing for the win right to the end and had a couple of good chances in the dying seconds. They thought it was settled and stopped playing"

BERGAMO – Having stood in for Handanovic in the last two matches, today Juan Pablo Carrizo again found himself filling in between the sticks after his Slovene counterpart was forced to withdraw from the action at half time with an injury.

Speaking to Inter Channel after the 1-1 draw, the Argentine shotstopper was first asked about his save from Yepes in the 83rd minute. "The ball just dropped there after a deflection and he found himself with the goal at his mercy. There's little we goalkeepers can do when that happens. I tried to stick my foot out and I managed to save it," he explained.

"Apart from the save though, I'm a bit disappointed because a draw is not exactly what we were looking for. We wanted all three points and we're weren't able to get them. It's true that we played well but our aim was to win and instead we go home with just the one point today.

"We kept pushing for the win right up to the end and we had a couple of good chances in the dying seconds. They thought the result was settled and they stopped playing.

"Now we have to go to Udine, which will be a tough away game against a tricky side.

"Alvarez said we need to be cleverer? I agree with him. What he means is that there are certain situations where you can draw or lose a game and if you're a team on the up that's not what you want. With time we'll get to grips with certain movements and be able to manage games even better."
