"THINKING BACK TO 18 FEBRUARY 1995, A GREAT MOMENT, FULL OF RESPONSIBILITY"

President Moratti on Mondo Inter: "Not sure it's nostalgia. When you love someone you like to think about them. Here's how idea of partners came up"

COLOGNO MONZESE - Thinking back to 18 February 1995, president Massimo Moratti - the guest on today's episode of Inter Channel's 'Mondo Inter' - tried to explain what he feels: "Nostalgia? I experienced that time with a great sense of responsibility, we went through some tough times during which there were some big mountains to climb. I don't know if I can talk about nostalgia. When you love someone, I believe, above all, you like to think of them. I don't think I have the right to say, 'Well, I'll keep going myself.' That's not something I have the right to, no one does because Inter has its glorious history, and the club needs to keep that with those who will be in charge. I think it's right, even if you don't hand it over, to at least not feel the main man at all times.

"When did this idea come about to find partners? After the treble, given that we had to change coach and there was a slightly strange feel to the place because the guy who came in was a little bothered by the past. But it went well both with Benitez and Leonardo. At that time I started to think that I'd experienced everything and that it would be good to look around, because supporting a football club on your own is hardly a light undertaking. There was an interesting opportunity with the Chinese, then there were issues back home for them, and things couldn't move forward, but the idea to find partners, someone international was still there. These gentlemen got in touch and they did it with such enthusiasm, something which really struck us. They're genuinely enthusiastic, and what's more they have a significant market which can be further developed with the name of our club."

What about the role president Moratti will retain in the club? "Being used to having a role, not that was important, but that had responsibility, it's difficult to change it. These gentlemen have very kindly asked me to stay on, but we'll see."

The ties which are set to grow stronger first came about via a friendly in Indonesia: "The enthusiasm from that day certainly stayed with me, that really marked me as a positive experience. Plus we're talking about a country that is growing economically and this also helps those people to make such an investment," explained the president.
