CERRONE: "SUPERB FIRST-HALF DISPLAY"

Primavera coach gave his thoughts after his team beat Parma in the Coppa Italia second round: "We're improving with every game"

PARMA - A satisfied Salvatore Cerrone spoke to inter.it after his side beat Parma 2-0 in the Primavera Coppa Italia this afternoon.

"We did brilliantly in the first half then in the second we stayed in control and they created almost no openings apart from on a mistake of ours. I was pleased with the lads' attitude today. We got at them, we always had the upper hand and we broke forward well after the break too. Parma tried to hit back but we retained possession well and even though we played at a slower tempo than in the first half we still managed to fashion a number of opportunities after the break.

"I thought we were always in control of proceedings. We were compact and held our shape even at the end, which is something we haven't done on other occasions. Of course the first half is what you  remember most: we played really very well.

"Reaching the next round is a good achievement, especially away from home and against a good team. We'll forget about the cup for a while now and we have a month to work on things before we return to league action. We'll play a few friendlies so that everyone can get some minutes in their legs. I'm seeing improvement from one match to the next and that's important. On Tuesday we'll start working hard again so that we can keep on this upwards curve."
