CAMBIASSO EXPLODES WHEN HE SEES PURPLE

With his goal tonight, the Argentine midfielder now has six total against his preferred target, Fiorentina

MILAN - Esteban Cambiasso once again. It was his sixth goal against the Viola since he has been in Italy (out of his total 49 in competitive matches) and the Argentine has proven to be a true nightmare for them.

Cuchu’s 5 previous against the Tuscans came on 20 March 2005 (one in Inter 3-2 Fiorentina), 9 September 2006 (a brace in Fiorentina 2-3 Inter), 13 April 2008 (one in Inter 2-0 Fiorentina) and 8 May 2011 (one in Inter 3-1 Fiorentina). All in the league. And whenever Cambiasso has scored against the Viola, Inter have always come out on top.

The winning goal in the 2-1 victory that put Mazzarri’s Inter in second place, level on points with Napoli and Juventus, was scored by Jonathan. It was his first league goal in a Nerazzurri shirt after two in the Italian Cup. Jonathan had scored just one in the Serie A before tonight, back on 11 April 2012 in Parma 2-0 Novara when he was playing for the Crociati.

Tonight’s win was the 13th consecutive victory for Inter at the Meazza against Fiorentina, who continue to struggle in San Siro. Their last win came on 7 May 2000 in a 4-0 rout with Trapattoni at the helm.
