ZANETTI AT PIRELLI CORSO VENEZIA: "INTER FANS AREN'T RACIST"

A big turnout of fans and standing ovation at the entrance. T-shirts sell out in half an hour

MILAN – Vogue Fashion’s Night Out in Milan took on hues of blue and black, as every autographed T-shirt was bought up in under half an hour. It was clear just how much the fans liked Inter’s limited edition design, inspired by the American flag. Proceeds from sales will be donated to charity, along with those of the T-shirts Fabrizio Sclavi created for Pirelli. Inter captain Javier Zanetti took part in the long evening of fashion in the heart of the city, PZero’s guest at the flagship store in Corso Venezia together with his wife Paula.

There was a crowd of reporters waiting for Zanetti and the Inter captain spoke on many subjects, beginning with his current state of fitness: "The medical checks I underwent today? They went well, now I’ll increase the workload so I can get back to my best. By November? We’ll see. The main thing is to come back in the right state. As soon as possible, but in the right state. I really miss being on the pitch. The Mazzarri-Inter project has started well. I’m happy for the coach, who didn’t have an easy task, and happy for my team-mates who are doing well. I knew about Mazzarri’s ability and dedication to his work, and he’s shown it’s for real.

"Can Inter win the Scudetto? It’s too soon to talk about that. Antonio Conte said so? It means a lot coming from Antonio but we’ll see at the end of the season. Was the punishment for racist chanting too severe? It’s not the first time it’s happened. We accept it and we’ll move on but Inter fans aren't racist. It happens elsewhere and nothing gets done about it, but let's just look forward.

"Where will I play under Mazzarri? Wherever he thinks is best. The sale of the club? As I said, the president is trying to do what’s best for this great family. We’re trying to do it in the best possible way, and we hope Moratti stays with us. Could the entire deal fall apart? Anything’s possible."

After the interview it was time for photos and autographs at the 'Solo Inter' store inside Pirelli Corso Venezia.
