BRESCIA – Today's contest between Brescia and Inter, the first league match of the season for the Nerazzurri Primavera coached by Salvatore Cerrone, ended 2-2. After the game, the coach spoke exclusively to inter.it:
"Brescia is always a tough place to play. We’re disappointed at not having won, but all things considered and seeing how the game unfolded, we showed tremendous spirit. Even the lads who came on as substitutes in the second half gave their all and helped the side earn a deserved draw. We tried as hard as we could to stay in the game, but incidents and errors saw us concede a couple of goals. We need to work hard to improve and not make the same mistakes again. We have players as young as 17 in the squad, and they still have to adapt to playing at this level – the opposition don’t give you any time and punish even the tiniest of mistakes…"
"We mounted a spirited fightback in the second half. I still can’t say whether I’ve been able to see the flowing football I’d like, but we had the majority of possession and always tried to play football. They sat back after the break, trying to defend their lead, so we found space very hard to come by. We did well to put the game back on track but we can't be happy with the result. We have to take note and try to improve the intensity of our game. In particular, the start of our build-up play is a bit slow. We need to improve that.
"I think it's a good result and I liked the way the players reacted. I repeat: we still need to improve our fluidity, our intensity and our accuracy. We would often get to the dead-ball line but put poor crosses into the penalty area or got the final pass wrong. We can and must do better. Tomorrow we’ll be back on the training pitch, preparing for the important knock-out game in the Coppa Italia on Wednesday. We’ll try to build on these solid foundations, eliminate our mistakes and grow."
