INTER ON THEIR WAY TO AMERICA

Team due to land in Newark this afternoon after leaving Italy this morning. First training session at 18:00 local time, second with Steve Nash tomorrow

MILAN – Inter's 2013 summer tour is now up and off the ground! The Nerazzurri are flying over the Atlantic on their way to the USA for the Guinness International Champions Cup. They are expected to touch down in Newark at 16:00 local time, after which they will transfer to their hotel in Short Hills, New Jersey, before heading straight to the New York Red Bulls' Training Facility in Whippany this afternoon for their first session on US soil at 18:00.

Tomorrow NBA star Steve Nash will join Inter for their morning workout. An avid football fan ever since he was a boy, the legendary basketball player also enjoys playing the game, following in the footsteps of his father: John Nash, born in Tottenham (one of Steve's favourite clubs), was a professional footballer in South Africa.

The Los Angeles Lakers point guard is also part of the ownership group of MLS franchise Vancouver Whitecaps.

Nash spoke about his delight at having the opportunity to train with the Nerazzuri in an interview with The Associated Press, as reported by the Huffington Post.

"It's a dream come true to get a chance to try out, not just to try out but to take the field with Inter Milan, one of the great, storied franchises in professional sports. I still get nervous for basketball games from time to time. When I get out on the court, I don't get nervous, but before. To go out there with guys that I look up to and watch play, it's definitely going to raise the nerves. I'll be really nervous and really excited."

The playmaker, who wears the No.10 shirt at LA Lakers in honour of Glenn Hoddle, Zinedine Zidane and other great football playmakers, also gave his thoughts on the Guinness International Champions Cup.

"Guinness has kind of taken it to another level by making a tournament out of it. There's stakes involved. For Guinness to bring seven of the world's biggest clubs over and play with the Galaxy, that's phenomenal exposure for the game and it'll help grow the game in North America."
