HANDANOVIC: "MAZZARRI? SOMEONE WHO NEVER BACKS DOWN"

"Mazzarri's an experienced coach whose career speaks for itself. There will be time to get to know each other"

PINZOLO - Sky’s Massimiliano Nebuloni interviewed Nerazzurri keeper Samir Handanovic following the afternoon training session.

Here at inter.it we give you the full interview with the Inter number one.

Did you expect this kind of enthusiasm from the fans?

"I didn’t know what to expect. This support is good for us and all Inter fans"

When the team was being presented it was funny to hear you joke on stage about letting in fewer goals next season than last. Is there anything you want to hang on to from last season?

"For me, very little quite honestly. In my opinion, nothing happens by accident. Even negative seasons like our last one can be useful. We need to restart without forgetting those mistakes and the humiliation."

A few months ago you said that if you didn't qualify for the Champions League it would be better not to compete in Europe. Will Inter have an advantage by not competing in Europe and being able to concentrate only on the weekly league fixtures?

"Yes, I said what I thought. In my opinion it will be an advantage. But for now we only need to think about working hard, and then we’ll see how far we can go."

Zanetti and Cambiasso have welcomed the arrival of Walter Mazzarri, stating that Inter needed a strong figure at the helm. In your opinion, why did Inter need such a coach in charge?

"I think Mazzarri’s career speaks for itself. He’s an experienced coach. He hasn’t been with us for very long but there will be time to get to know each other. Every coach’s career speaks for itself, just as it does for players. He’s certainly someone who never backs down."

With the arrival of Tevez do Juventus continue to be much stronger than the other teams?

"I think Juventus and Fiorentina now have something more than the others."

Even more so than Napoli?

"For me, yes. However, I think next season will be a more balanced one compared to the past and therefore a more entertaining one."

How did it feel to be courted by a team like Barcelona? Will you stay with Inter?

"I don’t talk about the transfer market. Agents and club officials talk about the transfer market, and it’s up to us players to concentrate on training."

Francesco Guidolin was your coach for many years at Udinese. Is he in any way comparable to Mazzarri?

"I’ve only been with Mazzarri for eight days. There will be time to assess these things and get to know each other."

What do you think of the fact that Guidolin decided to show up at Udinese’s training camp a few days late?

"I have many friends in Udine. I like the city a lot but that was my first home. Now I call Inter home and I only need to concern myself with what happens here. The things that happen in Udine are their concern."

Is Mauricio Isla a player who could make a difference for Inter?

"I think so. He had a few problems but he’s a strong player that could make a difference in any team. However, you make a difference by what you do on the pitch, not by talking."
