Day 3 – The wind picked up, almost as if it were meant to happen. We
were approaching the arrival of Nerazzurri idol Zanetti on board, and the wind
had the flags unfurled to the maximum.
With more than twenty-four hours of cruising from Messina to Athens under a hot sun, the conditions were ideal for sunbathing and relaxing. The excitement is sure to pick up at the stop in Greece, where we’ll meet the captain.
While young Nerazzurri keeper Raffaele Di Gennaro enjoyed himself topside
with the fans, there were more banners on display. At the end of the day the
action shifted from the sun deck to the Metropolis theatre on deck 3. It was
time for the maritime edition of Wivi l'Inter, hosted as always by Roberto
Scarpini and lads from various Inter Club chapters. Quizzes, games, guests,
stories, comedy routines, complete with Fabrizio Fontana/James Tont dressed
from head to toe in blue and black.
The black team continued in its competition against the blue team, and the
scores continue to climb day by day, match by match. At any rate, the winner
will be the Nerazzurri, with Bedy Moratti among the judges.
Meanwhile, everyone is waiting for Zanetti to be added to the panel to
provide true star appeal. Wednesday 19 June is the day of his arrival. He’ll
land in Athens, then transfer to the Navigator of the Seas with his family and
finally greet the fans.
There will be autographs and photos for all 700; it’s a mind-blowing number but
not enough to make the captain nervous. Quite the contrary. All of this warmth
from the supporters only serves to encourage him even more. There’s still plenty more
to come out here in the middle of the sea, and this evening will see theatre, photos, autographs, music and... Zanetti singing. Our fantastic
Nerazzurri voyage continues.
