"WHEN I SAID TO HER: TURN ON THE TV, WE MIGHT BE GOING TO ITALY"

Zanetti on Prima Serata: "It was Daniel Passarella, then Argentina coach, who told me Inter had bought me. I phoned my wife Paula immediately"

APPIANO GENTILE - Javier Zanetti, this evening's guest on Inter Channel's Prima Serata, talked about the past and future in the show which will be broadcast tonight at 21:00 on Sky Italia channel 232.

"I was sad about having to watch the last few games on television, watching my team-mates and not being out there, especially as we've had so many problems recently. I was disappointed I couldn't play my part." And on his immediate future: "I don't think I'll quite be running in Pinzolo, I don't know if I'll be there. I need to speak to the doctor to plan what we're going to do from here onwards. I'll train all of next week and then we'll start to plan my comeback," explained the captain.

From what will be to what was, back in the summer of 1995: "The first person who told me Inter had bought me was Passarella, we were with the national team and he was head coach. He took me into his room and told me Inter had bought me. I called Paula straight away and told her, 'Turn on the TV because we might be going to Italy.' It was a dream, I was very young and having this opportunity so early on was a huge challenge. Then when I got to Milan I understood what it meant to play here, I remember what an amazing feeling it was on my debut against Vicenza, I can't describe it."

He also spoke about José Mourinho: "He didn't achieve much this season? No, but he's had success before, plus he's had some issues this season. He got to the semi-finals of the Champions League, he just lacked that bit of luck, but we're still talking about a great coach and a winner."

Don't miss Prima Serata in two hours' time!
