CARRIZO: "WE ACCEPT OUR PREDICAMENT, BUT WE'RE LOOKING FORWARD"

The Nerazzurri keeper to Sky Sport 24: "It's been a rather unlucky season. We'll turn the page. I hope to stay here"

APPIANO GENTILE – Today Juan Pablo Carrizo was interviewed by Matteo Barzaghi for Sky Sport 24, and the keeper was asked for his opinion on Inter’s season: "I’d say we’ve been a bit unlucky. We’ve had a lot of injuries and the quality of our play has suffered due to those absences. But it’s also necessary to accept this current predicament and look forward. We need to turn the page as soon as possible. Why didn’t we manage to qualify for Europe? Had we had a full squad I believe we could have reached the goals we had in mind."

On his experience at Inter: "For me it’s been an indescribable joy. Everyone welcomed me here. The results might not have been there, but I have to say it’s been a positive experience. I came into a lovely group, and from the first minute it was as if I’d already been here for years."

On his future: "I came on a 6-month loan with an option for another two years. I hope to stay here, although I know I have one of the best goalkeepers in the world ahead of me. Samir is playing well and I know there won’t be much space. Selling Handanovic for 30 million euros? That price would make sense; he’s one of the best, and anyone who wants to prize him away from Inter will have to spend a lot."

On Javier Zanetti returning to the pitch: "He’s a tough one. He doesn’t give up and this injury will serve as experience for him. How is the captain when you know him personally? He’s humble and cares about his team-mates. It’s only natural he’s the symbol of this club. You learn a lot from a champion like him."

Regarding Andrea Stramaccioni: "Before I arrived he seemed to me to be a young coach who had a lot to learn. But once I got here I found him to be very prepared and someone who really knows the opposition. I believe Inter have been a bit unlucky this season. Is it the right choice to continue with him? Yes, I don’t think he’s the person the club needs to change. We need to be self-critical and all give more for the cause."

Finally, a comment on the Coppa Italia final between Lazio and Roma: "I hear from my ex-team-mates and the entire city is really up for this game. I hope Lazio win because it’s a game that will make history and, above all, the following day won’t be easy for the team that loses…"
