ZANETTI: "UPSET ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED. IT OFTEN HAPPENS TO US"

Nerazzurri skipper reflected on last night's events at a charity evening for the PUPI Foundation

MILAN – Javier Zanetti took some time away from a charity event organised for the PUPI Foundation at 'Botinero' restaurant this evening to speak to the journalists present, fielding questions about yesterday's defeat to Atalanta and the penalty given against Inter.

"We're upset about what happened. It happens to us quite often. We're paying for the fact that we're different. Let's come out and say it so that nobody thinks we just stand by and watch these things go on. Inter's history speaks for itself: we're different to all the others. The penalty? I asked the referee on the spot what he'd seen. He said, 'Captain, it was a clear handball...' At 3-1 the game was going nicely."

Does the skipper believe it might be part of a plot? "President Moratti was clear on that." Who's behind it? "I don't know. We just get on with playing. Have you spoken to Moratti? No, yesterday we were all disappointed. A win yesterday would have taken us closer to third. Up until that moment the game was under control. That episode opened everything up again."

Finally: "We're up against everyone? It's been like that ever since I've been at the club. We like it that way. We like to win and lose honestly. It's been a very troubled year. The injuries to Palacio, Milito and Cassano have of course penalised the team's performances, but we're not looking for excuses."
