MILAN – This year's Notte Bianca (White Night) in San Siro on 25 May is set to be the longest yet. The annual gathering at the stadium opens the summer season of sports and music events at the stadium and is now in its fourth year.
Pierfrancesco Barletta, M-I Stadio CEO, explained: "We've tried to make everyone happy. Notte Bianca was a great success last year with lots of people visiting the stadium. This year we've decided to extend the opening times so that even more people can come and experience the magic of San Siro."
The Stadio Meazza will remain open from 10:00 in the morning until 1:00 at night. Fifteen hours for visitors to discover all the secrets of La Scala of football, go on a stadium or Museum tour, set foot inside the Inter and AC Milan dressing rooms and step out onto the pitch to realise a dream shared by young and old alike: score a penalty at the San Siro.
Chiara Bisconti, Milan councillor for Welfare, Quality of Life, Sports and Leisure, said: "San Siro is one of the symbols of this city. We want to promote the stadium as more than just a sports arena but also a space for cultural and social events."
Milly Moratti, who has always been fond of the stadium area, was also present. Her and Inter's support began when they donated some planted trees at the Trenno park, using part of the proceeds from one of the first season-ticket campaigns with Massimo Moratti as president. "Initiatives like this help people realise that the stadium is not only for football but belongs to all citizens. If you think about all the green areas around San Siro - the Hippodrome, the Boscoincittà park, the Trenno park - we have Europe's biggest thematic park right here. And that's something worth thinking about, especially in difficult times like the present: it's an area where lots of citizens could spend the summer if they stay in the city."
