MORATTI FAMILY AND INTER: "AN UNBREAKABLE BOND"

"I hope my family is remembered, especially my father, for an important moment in history"

MILAN – As we await the 105th birthday of the club tomorrow, inter.it gives you the second and final part of the interview with Massimo Moratti on Inter Channel.

Thirty of these 105 years belong to the Moratti family, and in that time there have been 8 league titles and three European Cups. It’s an important and inseparable bond between Inter and your family.

"Yes, fate had it that there would be this strong bond and one that would have us take on this responsibility, a choice made out of passion. It was destiny, and not without its difficulties, but at a certain point it rewarded us with this adventure. I remember my father’s era with great pride, and now I’m enjoying my own era with my current family. Usually when you go through these things you tend to only see the negatives. The positives slip past you, because you’re always thinking about tomorrow. You don’t think about what happened yesterday. But overall I have to say that I believe, I hope, that my family is what is remembered - especially my father - for a very important and decisive moment in history. A moment that brought the club to an international level and brought it to be known and loved around the world."

The world economic situation is different to when you first took over the club. There's a lot of talk about 'projects', the desire is there to get Inter back to winning ways but above all to create a model for a sustainable club, a forward-looking model for the team, and to do that with a coach, Andrea Stramaccioni, who has a lot of time for young players.

"That was the reasoning behind the choice, and it was a bit of a gamble. The coach has responded well to finding himself is a difficult job such as this, to the pressure you're placed under, so that's an important step forward for our project. It's a project that necessarily involves change because the players, the world-class players, that we've had and that we still have, and who continue to show great character, sooner or later have to hand over to new players. That's something that needs to be done calmly and intelligently and I hope, I believe, that Stramaccioni is capable of doing that."
