LONDON – Nerazzurri defender Juan Jesus was also there with Andrea Stramaccioni
at the press conference to discuss tomorrow’s Europa League challenge against
Tottenham.
The discussion began with the post-match of Catania v Inter, in which the coach
gave far more emphasis to the Brazilian defender’s reaction after his error on
Catania’s first goal than he did to the error itself. "I’m the first to
get angry with myself when I make a mistake. The second half was important
because we were able to react and improve. For me it was the first time playing
on the right, but I’m always looking to help Inter and it doesn’t matter where
I do it on the pitch."
On Gareth Bale, Juan Jesus explained: "He’s a great player who’s playing
well. But I don’t believe Inter are afraid of anything. We want to play our
game and we think we can do it well."
Juan Jesus explained how Walter Samuel’s absence is one that affects the team.
"He’s a very important player for us, and especially for me. He helped me
in many ways when I first came to this team. We hope he comes back soon to
continue where he left off."
Finally, when asked to make an assessment of his year’s worth of experience at Inter, Juan Jesus stated: "I can only say that I continue to learn new things. Of course I still have to improve and understand what the coach wants from me. But I still have many years ahead of me to improve. Do I prefer to play in a 3 or 4-man defence? We can play well with either one. We just have to do what the coach asks of us."
