SARNICO – A thrilling encounter saw Inter and Verona Under-19s share the spoils this afternoon, although the Nerazzurri will feel they missed a good chance to claim all three points.
Verona
were reduced to ten men after just 5 minutes when Sundas brought down
Forte outside the box with the striker clean through on goal. Yet despite being a man down the visitors took the lead with 16 minutes on the clock when
De Vita chested home Alba's cross. A goal to the good, Verona sat
back and defended well, while Inter struggled to fashion many clear-cut
chances until the 37th minute, when Gabbianelli played Bocar in with a superb ball and
the Portuguese forward fired an unstoppable shot past the keeper to level matters.
Bernazzani's boys got themselves in front 9 minutes after the restart when Belloni's corner found Spendlhofer unmarked at the far post and the Austrian midfielder had the easy task of nodding home to mark his Primavera debut with a goal. Verona clawed back a point with a quarter of an hour remaining thanks to Arzamendia, who conjured up a piece of magic to beat Smug from the edge of the box.
A difficult game as expected against a side that has shown in both meetings with Inter this season that they are a far better outfit than their lowly league position suggests.
The Nerazzurri Primavera now turn their attentions to Wednesday's NextGen Series clash with Arsenal: a place in the quarter-finals up for grabs.
