CHIVU: "NOT A SERIOUS INJURY. MY GOAL…"

"I took a knock in a spot that was already tender. I'll probably be out for a couple of days"

MILAN – First his lovely free kick put the Nerazzurri in the lead, then he was forced to leave the pitch after 28 minutes due to injury. Cristian Chivu took a few moments to speak with Inter Channel on the problem that brought his game to a premature finish: "I took a knock in a spot that was already tender. I tried to keep going but it was impossible. However, I think I’ll only need a couple days to recover since it’s nothing serious. My free kick? I didn’t practise any this week but it went well. Unfortunately the result is what it is, but we’ll move forward. I saw little of the match because I had to have treatment and was lying down with an ice pack."

Regarding his state of mind after another injury, Chivu stated: "I’m doing fine. I’ve accepted this and I’ll go forward as soon as I can. I’ll play as long as I’m able to, also because I refused to have another operation. My team-mates in defence? Both Juan and Andrea [Ranocchia] are excellent. They’re young and have a lot to learn, like myself for that matter. Why a 4-man defence today? We chose it in order to put them under pressure. We opened the scoring, but then you saw how things went. Ventura’s teams always play very well, and we knew it would be tough. But now we’re focused on getting back our injured players, like Diego [Milito] and Deki [Stankovic], and trying to achieve important goals."
