MILAN – Andrea Stramaccioni spoke to Sky Sport Italia after Inter 2-2 Torino at
the San Siro: "We started out really well and our aim was to keep Torino
from playing the game they wanted to play. We went ahead but then they were playing better than we were, although I don’t think they created more. Then came a
collective error on our part. It’s a general regret because the mistakes are
always team errors. In the second half we immediately let in a goal because it
was when Mudingayi had picked up an injury and we only had 10 men on the pitch.
Then after we went down 1-2 we were playing our best, but we gave too much
space to Torino by trying to win the match. Perhaps a draw is the fairest
result, although we're still disappointed about it. Why do I call Guarin’s mistake a
collective error? Because I don’t like handing all the blame to one player, and
it was also a mistake on the part of the entire defence. Myself, the keeper and
Guarin; we all deserve our share of the blame. We threw away a lead."
There were peaks and valleys for Cristian Chivu, who was forced to leave the
pitch for a foot problem after scoring his goal. Then it was Mudingayi’s turn
to come off injured, leaving Inter with two more problems to deal with. The
Nerazzurri coach reflected: "Unfortunately we haven’t had much luck in
this area with two injuries in the same game. I don’t want to comment on it
before discussing things with the medical staff, but it seems Gabi came off the
worst of the two. I think he fell badly and has an Achilles problem. A real
shame."
Stramaccioni isn’t sure about how to convince president Moratti to make a move
in the transfer market, most of all because "I don’t have to convince
anyone. The situation is very clear: our team has its own identity and things
are going very well as they are. Our goal is reaching 3rd place, regardless of
whether any new arrivals come in. The league standings are very close and today
we blew a chance. But at the same time I have to give my compliments to
Torino."
Stramaccioni then talked about his choice of a 4-4-2 formation today: "Our
basic formation is a 3-5-2. We prepared for this match with the aim of not
losing our sense of balance, then Chivu got hurt and I was left without another
central defender. Cambiasso seemed agitated as he came onto the pitch? He was
agitated because a second earlier we were making the substitution, and then
Torino scored."
Finally, on the reaction from Juventus regarding certain refereeing decisions in their match against Genoa, Stramaccioni stated: "I’ll speak about Inter, which is what I’ve always done. We’ve never looked for excuses and I think it’s only right I answer questions about my team. What the others say isn’t our concern."
