STRAMACCIONI: "IT TAKES TIME TO PEAK"

"This project we started last summer is in full flow. Absentees? I don't like to look for excuses"

APPIANO GENTILE - Andrea Stramaccioni has never been one for excuses and today was no different. Ahead of Inter's Serie A clash with Torino tomorrow, the Nerazzurri coach reflected on the recent double-header against Roma in the capital, which unfortunately saw the Giallorossi establish a first-leg lead in the Coppa Italia semi-final.

"We played two very open games against Roma," Stramaccioni began. "We did miss some of our attacking players and we were a bit short up front, but I also want to stress that those who did play performed well. I've never blamed the result on our absent players though, I don't like to look for excuses. That said, every team has players who are more or less important and we've often found ourselves having to make do without some of ours so that's logically going to make it a bit harder for us. We'll keep working as we are, on this project that we began last summer and which is now in full flow. It's only fair to give my players a bit of time so that they can reach their full potential."

On the subject of absentees, Stramaccioni was asked about Diego Milito, who is again missing from the matchday squad: "Having Diego out is a massive loss to us. We all know how important he is to me, but I'm confident that he's not far off making his return. In any case, Inter won't be going back onto the market for another striker."

Antonio Cassano is in the squad to face Torino, however: "He's completed the last two training sessions and I'll take my time between now and kick-off to decide whether to field him from the start or bring him off the bench."
