ROME - At the end of Inter’s 1-1 draw against
Roma at the Stadio Olimpico, Javier Zanetti commented on the Nerazzurri’s result:
"It was a very intense game after the 120 minutes on
Tuesday in the Coppa Italia. We responded well and in the second half we had a chance to win, just like they did. However, a draw was fair considering how both teams played and it wasn’t easy
against a Roma side that always plays well at home. We tried to win, but I
repeat: a draw was a just result."
The Nerazzurri captain also spoke about the opponents and the fact that matches against Roma have become quite hard fought these days: "Yes, Roma are a very tough opponent. It’s never been easy playing at the Stadio
Olimpico and they were our main rivals during the period in which we won so
much. Zeman? I thanked him for his comments about me. I’ve known him a long time and I respect him highly, as
both a coach and a man. When he coached Lazio I often went to Rome to visit my team-mates with Argentina on Mondays, when I had the day off."
Regarding Wednesday’s Coppa Italia match, once again
against the Giallorossi, he said: "It
will be different because it’s a
Coppa Italia semi-final. We hope to play a great game. Sneijder? I
wish him the best. He helped us achieve important objectives. Now he’s going to play in a completely
different league."
Finally, on the Nerazzurri’s reaction after conceding a penalty, he stated: "We never lost our heads. We continued playing and the equaliser came. Our prospects? It’s a new path. We’re building a team that’s growing and we’ve had our ups and downs, but we’ll do everything we can to compete."
