NEW YORK – The author blushes as president
Massimo Moratti places emphasis on the word "artist", but
flicking through 'Inter Campus - Sport Passione Impegno' you realise
that's exactly what Franco Origlia is. His pictures not only tell the
15-year story of Inter's social programme for needy children,
they also portray life itself in its very essence.
The setting was New York once again: following on from Inter's
wonderful experience at the UN on Wednesday ("An extraordinary feeling," said Moratti at
today's presentation, "like having a really big friend walking alongside you"), on Thursday the Nerazzurri delegation moved on to 57th
Street and Rizzoli Bookstore.
We immediately felt at home there too, in that building constructed in 1919, three floors all in wood with stucco ceilings. And we were made to feel at home not so much because it's an Italian bookstore, Rizzoli, but because another slice of the Big Apple took on a black and blue hue.
Published by Skira, the book contains over 200 photos depicting the daily life of thousands of children who have grown up with Inter Campus. Speaking to 200 fans from Inter Clubs New Jersey, Brooklyn and Queens, with honorary president of Inter Club Coordination Centre Bedy Moratti also in attendance, Francesco Toldo shared his enthusiasm for Inter Campus and the magical power a ball can acquire when combined with a Nerazzurri shirt.
It's the same magic which gushes out of the photos taken by Origlia, who was excited and proud to have placed poor kids from all over the world in the foreground, image after image, just as Inter Campus do.
Celebrating the publication of the book alongside Massimo Moratti were Inter Campus president Carlotta Moratti, Ivan Cordoba and Luis Figo.
