ALLIEVI NAZIONALI: AWAITING INTER V EMPOLI

Sunday 17 June at 17:30: semi-final in Montepulciano. Strong Inter Club presence expected

CHIANCIANO TERME - Half a day of rest and a light workout; this was the training programme before the semi-final against Empoli for the Allievi of Gianmario Corti (pictured). The match will be played tomorrow at the Stadio Bonelli in Montepulciano in the province of Siena as the teams challenge for the national title. The kick-off will be at 17:30 due to organisational demands, and many Nerazzurri fans are expected; the Inter Club chapters in the area are mobilising to support Inter's fourth team that, after having drawn against Lazio and Roma (1-1 in both meetings), won 3-1 against Sampdoria, putting the club among the final four of Italian teams in their age group.

Against Empoli, the team that eliminated AC Milan, Corti will be without the suspended Fabio Donkor (yellow card accumulation) and will have to assess the condition of certain players who picked up minor injures in the three matches over four days. "But the morale of the group is high. Against Sampdoria, in a very difficult and balanced phase of the competition, these lads brought out their best, showing a great sense of belonging and pride in the Inter shirt," stated accompanying director Antonio Mottura.

In the other semi-final Fiorentina will take on Sampdoria in Torrita di Siena. Therefore, Inter is the only major Italian club that has been present in all of the major categories of youth football: a Scudetto for the Primavera and Juniores, the Allievi Nazionali in the semi-finals and the Giovanissimi having qualified for the final phase (starting mid-week).
