MILAN - "Evidently I was too close... but the important thing is that we
won," began Javier Zanetti when commenting on Inter v Genoa to Inter
Channel, starting from the penalty whistled against the Nerazzurri for the
involuntary touch of his arm on the ball. He then expanded on the other
penalties awarded against Inter, such as the one given for a foul by Lucio,
although "in our opinion it was a foul in our favour because Sculli had
raised his leg… but I'll repeat; the important thing is that we won."
Zanetti then spoke of this first week spent with new coach Andrea Stramaccioni:
"We worked really hard this week with a coach who has brought enthusiasm,
and we've shown our willingness to start again. What is important is that the
reaction was there, even if there are some things to correct. Considering that
it was the first match I think we can be content. We talked a lot with the
coach, and he's a clever person."
Thoughts then turned to the standings: "Unfortunately getting to Europe
doesn't only depend on us. We'll try to do the best we can. We have an
obligation to try until the very end."
Finally, a comment on the performance of Esteban Cambiasso, who was among the
best on the pitch today: "No one can debate Cuchu's class. Today he played
a leading role in this victory."
