TURIN – Interviewed by Sky Italia before the match between Juventus and Inter, technical director Marco Branca wished to place the emphasis on the Primavera's deserved win in London this afternoon, as they secured the first edition of the NextGen Series – the so-called youth Champions League. "This victory means a lot," began Branca. "It's a hugely satisfying result for the club, the president, the lads and the coach, who is in his first year and who didn't get off to a good start in this competition. Since then he's done a great job of creating the Inter spirit and he's shown a lot of character. My congratulations go to him."
Branca was then asked if Andrea Stramaccioni might be one of the candidates to take over at the helm of the first team. "Let's leave him alone, in peace. I think he's happy to be here with us and we're happy with him, but let's leave in peace."
The topic changed to tonight's crunch match and what it was like to arrive at the Juventus Stadium. "It was a welcome like any other. Do you sense a particular atmosphere? You did feel that in recent years but it's the usual big-game atmosphere. The two revoked Scudetti in the corridor? Just a bit ironic, nothing more, nothing less. Yes, there are plenty of reasons to beat Juve, especially tonight, in this stadium. It's still possible for us to do something in the league but we must try to do the impossible. We're in opposite situations compared to last year? During the first years of my fantastic adventure with Inter, the situation was similar, then we turned it around. That's what happens in sport.
"Is there anything I would do differently in the transfer market, like not sell Eto'o or Motta? From a technical point of view not only myself but also the president and everyone at Inter would have made different choices, but if we made the ones we did it's because we couldn't do any differently."
