APPIANO GENTILE - Giampaolo Pazzini is not giving up; he does not intend to and neither do his team-mates. The Nerazzurri are preparing to face Juventus with renewed spirit, supported – as always – by Inter president Massimo Moratti. The Nerazzurri forward stressed this in an interview with Mediaset that aired on Studio Sport.
"I believe that the president has always been close to the team and close to each one of us. We're lucky to have a president like him, because he always pushes us, urges us on, and lets us know he has confidence in us. It's important for a team to have such a president. Has he reminded us of the importance of Sunday's match against such a big rival? There's no need for the president to say that to us. We know that it's a very important game, very heartfelt. Many things have happened in recent years, so... At any rate, they're certainly the ones with the most to lose, because they're playing for the Scudetto. But we want to try to do well. It's a test of pride and this team is capable. Juve are doing very well now. They run a lot and you can tell that it's a strong and united group. They're having a great season. But we can potentially do well. It's up to us. We have to take to the pitch in a different way with respect to our last matches," stated the Nerazzurri striker.
The discussion then turned to the Champions League and it was pointed out to Pazzini how he ended his drought in the game against Marseille. A bitter smile appeared on Giampaolo's face: "I didn't even consider it as an end to my drought because it was a sad night for us. We really wanted to advance in the Champions League, so I didn't even consider it. I've certainly been through better times, but these things happen in football. I feel as relaxed as possible, although the situation obviously is not pleasing to myself and my team-mates. It's difficult but we must have the personality, strength and character to start again."
A thought was dedicated to the standings and the objective of finishing in third place. Can such a feat be accomplished? "As long as we're not mathematically out of it, why not believe? But before looking at the teams ahead of us we need to look at ourselves. If we can't win then it's useless to make calculations."
