APPIANO GENTILE – What has been described as a refusal on Diego Forlan's part to come onto the pitch continues to be the burning issue during the Nerazzurri striker's appearance on Inter Channel's "Prima Serata".
On this issue, someone asked where Claudio Ranieri might have actually got it wrong by asking Forlan if he wanted to come on or not. The striker replied by explaining that, "A lot can be said after the event, but I think it's important that people know something, and that is that what the press have reported is wrong.
"As I've said, I have respect for the Inter fans, for the shirt, and I haven't come here to mess things up. It's true that things aren't going well at the moment, but I'm keen to do well, I want to play, score lots of goals and help the team. If I have to apologise because some people think I've made a mistake, then I apologise, we can all make mistakes, but today I want to say what actually happened. There are some troublemakers out there who know how to take advantage of certain situations. We're all very much together and there's no problem. I'm aware that so far I've not quite lived up to the fans' expectations, but I'll say it again, I've got too much respect for everyone to not do everything in my power to do well. It's not like I've just started my career, my record speaks for itself and tells you all about what sort of person I am."
