LONGO: "PLAYING IN EUROPE IS GALVANISING"

"Let's win this competition. It's the group that counts; it's not about personal glory"

LONDON - "It doesn't matter who the top scorer is if we don't win the competition." That was how Samuele Longo began as he spoke to Inter Channel following Inter U19s' win over Marseille in the semi-final of the NextGen Series, in which Samuele tucked away the Nerazzurri's second goal in the 42nd minute. The striker added: "We have to win. It doesn't matter whether it's Bessa, Livaja or anyone else who scores; it's the win that counts."

Stramaccioni played Longo (normally a centre forward) in a different position today, asking him to do a shift on the left wing - a move which had journalists likening him to Samuel Eto'o. Blushing, Longo replied: "Eto'o is an amazing player, I can't even begin to think about comparing myself to him. I was lucky to get to train with him. Yesterday the coach explained what role he had in mind for me on the plane and he gave the same example and described Inter's match against Chelsea to help me understand. Before the match today I watched some videos to remind me of the movements and it went well. We knew how good our opponents were but we were prepared for them. I'm scoring more in the cup than in the league? Maybe I have more space to get forward and maybe this competition galvanises you a bit more."
