APPIANO GENTILE – And what now? Will Inter, now out of the UEFA Champions League, after years of titles and trophies lifted beneath a black and blue sky, be able to finish the season in the best possible way? Hearing Stankovic on Prima Serata, presented by Edoardo Caldara (21:00 on Inter Channel), makes you almost want to go out onto the pitch yourself. Because in the bitterness and sadness of Tuesday night's defeat, Dejan has discovered new desire and it's as if he wants to show the way, first to himself and then to others.
"There's no risk of us collapsing. At least, personally, I don't see this happening. I have even more desire to play, to not give up. I didn't train with my team-mates today, I trained on my own as I was still a little tired. But in the changing rooms I saw the lads really up for it and I really like the fact that we're playing Atalanta at the San Siro on Sunday. The emotions I'm feeling, that we all felt the other night in our stadium, were a real display of love and affection. It was amazing being there against Barcelona or Chelsea the year of the treble. But it was also easier. I felt unbelievable shivers down my spine. This means that I need to play for another three of four years if I'm still feeling these emotions. Everyone knows what I'm like. I've still got two years on my contract but I do what I feel. When I think I can no longer do it, when I feel I can no longer give to Inter everything that Inter deserve, I'll hold my hands up, and thank the president and everyone at the club for everything I've learned and won at Inter. When that moment comes, I'll tell you, but for the moment I'm still really up for it. The other night I put everything I could in on the pitch; pride, performance, fight. And I said to myself: I can still give my all for Inter. I've drawn positives from the disappointments. I'm still around."
