In December 2011 he was officially selected for the 2012 UEFA European Football Championship in Poland and Ukraine.
Tuesday's match with Inter will be the third for Proença after Bayern Munich v Inter (15 March 2011, 2-3) and Twente v Inter (14 September 2010, 2-2), but he was also the 4th official in Olympique Marseille v Inter (2003/04 UEFA Cup).
