INTER CHANNEL, ZANETTI: "I DIDN'T SILENCE THE FANS"

"I respect them. It was just one fan, a single fan, who was insulting one of my team-mates"

APPIANO GENTILE - "Last night there was a fan, a single fan, who was insulting one of my team-mates. I thought it was appropriate for me to step in because he it seemed over the top." Javier Zanetti spoke to Inter Channel to clarify what happened at the end of last night's game, after reports in this morning's papers claimed he had silenced the Nerazzurri fans for contesting the team.

"I've always respected my fans but this individual went way over the top. I thought it was strange and it was unpleasant because my team-mate was behind me and I could imagine what he must have felt like after the game. I can understand that after a match like that there's a lot of tension but all the same..." commented Zanetti.

He then turned his attention to the next game, against Roma: "We always want to bounce back and keep improving."
