MORATTI: "GOOD REPLY FROM THE TEAM"

MILAN - "It wasn't an easy game, it was almost a duty. We all really hoped to get through, the team gave a good reply and in the end it was a great satisfaction for everyone, also for Dejan Stankovic who scored a nice and important goal, for himself and for everyone," said Massimo Moratti this morning at a convention organised by Milan's Cattolica university and Buena Vista Home Entertainment.

It was in Paris, the venue for this year's Champions League final, where Inter last lifted a European trophy in 1998 with a UEFA Cup final victory over Lazio. Asked by journalists if he feels this is a coincidence, Moratti replied: "Yes, I have thought about this, but there are still many matches to go and we all hope there are many to play..."

Moratti was also asked to comment on Marco Materazzi's advice for Ronaldo to explain himself to the Inter fans. "These are players' things," he replied. "It could be useful to Ronaldo so he doesn't leave a black mark in his past, but it has nothing to do with the future."
