ANNOUNCEMENT: LIPPI LEAVES THE CLUB

MILANO-Inter FC announce that Lippi has left the club. This was the result of today's meeting between the Chairman and the Coach. Despite the fact that the club recognizes his good work with the team, the situation had become really tense after the defeat against Reggina and Lippi's subsequent strongly worded statement against the squad hadn't helped the situation. We are publishing some interesting statements Moratti has made over the last few days so we can understand the situation better: "I feel extremely disappointed both as a supporter and as Chairman because we played really badly against Reggina".
He then had referred to the strong statements Lippi had made in the press interview: "Lippi talked that way because he doesn't feel he is the only one responsible for what happened. And he often says things in the heat of the moment. It's part of his character. But I'll only know what to do once I meet him". The Chairman had also presented a TV Sports programme yesterday where he gave his opinion about the present situation: "I can understand him, even though his strong statement only added fuel to the fire and doesn't help the club. We're out of the Champions League and we've paid the consequences for that. Everybody is to blame and supporters have good reason to be upset. Lippi's men don't deserve to be praised, but such strong statements have caused an even greater tension in the squad. So, I'd rather talk about technical problems than get personal".
Before meeting the Coach he had said: "I still trust Lippi. Perhaps we can resolve the situation and talk about it in a relaxed way. I believe he overstepped himself a bit but hopefully we can still get on with the job. Sometimes it only takes a little thing for us to understand each other and be able to see the way ahead."
