Mourinho v Leonardo

Inter's massive victory over AC Milan on 29 August 2009 is the only previous competitive encounter between the two coaches. Mourinho and Leonardo faced each twice in the pre-season, with Inter winning 2-0 in the World Football Challenge friendly in Boston, and 1-0 in the 45-minute Tim Trophy clash in Pescara.

2009/10 Serie A Inter-AC Milan ---- 4-0

Mourinho v AC Milan

José Mourinho has faced AC Milan in a competitive fixture on four previous occasions. In the European Super Cup on 29 August 2003, Mourinho's Porto lost 1-0 to Ancelotti's AC Milan. His Inter side lost by the same score in his first Milan derby in September 2008, winning the return fixture 2-1 in February, and thumping the Rossoneri 4-0 in Week 2 of the current season.

2008/09 Serie A Inter-AC Milan 2-1 0-1
2009/10 Serie A Inter-AC Milan ---- 4-0

Leonardo v Inter

Leonardo faces Inter in a competitive fixture for the second time as a coach after that 4-0 home defeat last August. As an AC Milan player, Leonardo faced the Nerazzurri in six derbies from November 1997 to May 2001. The Brazilian won 2, drew 3 (all 2-2) and lost 1 (1-0 away defeat in Coppa Italia on 21 January 1998), scoring twice in the 2-2 Serie A draw on 13 March 1999. The two victories were Milan's biggest ever against their city rivals (5-0 at home in the Coppa Italia on 8 January 1998 and 6-0 away in Serie A on 11 May 2001).

Details:
2009/10 Serie A AC Milan-Inter 0-4 ----

Inter goalless in only one of last 20 games

Inter have failed to hit the target in only one of their last 20 matches - the 2-0 UCL defeat away to Barcelona on 24 November 2009. In the other 19 games the Nerazzurri have scored a total of 39 goals. In Serie A games, Inter have failed to score in one of their last 25 - the 1-0 loss at Sampdoria on 26 September 2009, scoring 55 in the other 24 games.

Nerazzurri unbeaten at home since November 2008

Inter have played 31 home games - winning 22 and drawing 9 - since their last defeat at home, a 1-0 loss against Panathinaikos in the Champions League on 26 November 2008.

Stankovic eyeing another goal against Milan

Dejan Stankovic loves scoring against AC Milan and their goalkeeper Dida. The Serbian midfielder, who has netted 67 goals for Italian clubs, has scored six times against the Rossoneri and three times against the Brazilian shotstopper. Dejan has also put three past Dida's colleagues Ballotta, Castellazzi, Ferron, Frey and Strakosha.

Inter looking to increase record of consecutive derby wins

Inter have won their last four Milan derbies at home, beating their city rivals 3-2 in 2005/06 (Serie A), 2-1 in 2006/07 (Serie A), 2-1 in 2007/08 (Serie A) and 2-1 in 2008/09 (Serie A). The Nerazzurri's previous record of consecutive Milan derby victories since the Serie A championship became a single-division tournament in 1929 was three: 5-4 in 1932/33, 3-0 in 1933/34 and 2-0 in 1934/35.

No derby draw since October 2004

The last stalemate in a Milan derby was on 24 October 2004 when Inter drew 0-0 away to their cross-city cousins in Serie A. There have since been 12 derbies, with 6 wins apiece.

Rossoneri on target in last 14 trips to Inter

AC Milan have scored on their last 14 'visits' to Inter, netting a total of 29 goals. The Rossoneri last failed to score away to Inter on 21 January 1998, when they lost 1-0 in the Coppa Italia.

Nerazzurri chasing sixth straight home win...

Inter are within sight of a sixth consecutive home victory at home after results against Fiorentina (1-0, Serie A), Rubin Kazan (2-0, Champions League), Livorno (1-0, Coppa Italia), Lazio (1-0, Serie A) and Siena (4-3, Serie A). If they win the derby, the Nerazzurri will complete a run of six consecutive home wins for the first time since the period from September 2007 to January 2008, when they went on to win 13 Serie A, Coppa Italia and Champions League matches.

...Rossoneri looking for fourth consecutive away victory

AC Milan go into the derby on the back of three Serie A away wins against Lazio (2-1), Catania (2-0) and Juventus (3-0). Victory over Inter in the derby will see the Rossoneri stretch their unbeaten away run to four matches for the first time since February to March 2005 when they completed a quintet of away victories over Messina (4-1), Reggina (1-0), Inter (1-0), Atalanta (2-1) and Roma (2-0).

One Milan defeat in last eighteen

The Rossoneri have lost just one of their last 18 games - the 2-0 Serie A defeat at Palermo on 13 December, winning 12 and drawing 5 of the other 17. Considering the same 18 games, that loss at the Stadio Renzo Barbera was also the only match in which AC Milan conceded. The have scored a total of 40 goals in the other 17 matches.

Bonera set for 300th appearance as professional

Milan defender Daniele Bonera will make his 300th appearance as a professional if he takes part in Sunday night's derby. Bonera, who has played professional football for Brescia, Parma and AC Milan, made his debut on 28 November 1999 in Brescia's 1-1 home draw against Vicenza in Serie B. He has played 233 times in Serie A, 5 in Serie B, 19 in the Coppa Italia, 39 in European competitions, and 3 times in other tournaments.

AC and penalties in 2009/10

Like Lazio and Roma, AC Milan have had only one penalty awarded against them in the 2009/10 Serie A championship. But, having had six penalties given in their favour, the Rossoneri have a penalties difference of +5 - the highest in Serie A.

MILAN - Diego Milito scored an early goal before the dismissal of Wesley Sneijder and Goran Pandev added a curling free kick after the break to send Inter nine points clear at the top of the Serie A table.

Julio Cesar saved a penalty from Ronaldinho in injury time at the end of the second half as the Nerazzurri completed a memorable league double over their city rivals without conceding a single goal.

José Mourinho's men made a roaring start, Sneijder shaving the post with a superb long-range swerveshot in the opening seconds. Pandev set up a second chance for Sneijder before assisting Milito for the opening goal.

The Macedonian's long-range pass sailed into the path of Milito and Abate made sure it landed at his feet with a disastrous back-header. El Principe raced on goal found the bottom right corner with a low angled shot.

Fast on the break and superior in midfield, Inter created plenty of chances to double their lead and Dida made crucial saves from Milito and Pandev.

The Nerazzurri were dealt a blow on 26 minutes when Sneijder was shown a straight red card for protesting at Gianluca Rocchi's decision to book Lucio for diving when Ambrosini appeared to make contact with the Brazilian defender.

Leonardo made a switch at the break, bringing on Seedorf for Gattuso, and his team made the extra man tell in a strong start to the second period. Julio Cesar was suddenly a busy man and the Inter goalkeeper brilliantly kept out Seedorf's close-range header, protecting his near post moments later as he watched Ronaldinho's volley fly just wide.

Milito briefly interrupted Milan's momentum with a low shot that was saved by Dida, but the Rossoneri were straight back into attack and Borriello saw two headers saved before watching a third go over the bar.

Inter charged forward and Pandev rattled the post after a defence-splitting one-two with Milito. Pandev went one better on 65 minutes when he curled in a free kick to celebrate his first Milan derby in the best possible fashion and earn himself a standing ovation when substituted by Thiago Motta.

The drama spilled over into added time when Milan were awarded a penalty and Lucio was sent off for the second booking after handling the ball. Ronaldinho stepped up to the spot but Julio Cesar guessed right and pulled off a vital save.
