45' One minute of injury time.
44' Chelsea win two corners in quick succession. Nothing comes of them.
43' Another chance for Chelsea as Drogba plays in Anelka with an inch-perfect pass. The Frenchman has just Julio Cesar to beat and Inter have Lucio to thank for a vital clearance.
41' Anelka looks for Drogba with an overhead kick in the area. Zanetti is first to the ball and the Inter captain steers it to safety. Moments later Malouda wrgigles free of Cambiasso and shoots from inside the box. Samuel makes a sliding block.
39' Sneijder goes for goal from a 35-yard free kick. The Dutchman's powerful strike comes back off the wall.
39' Pandev one-twos with Eto'o but can't reach the return ball, which takes a deflection off Zhirkov.
38' Milito receives from Eto'o in the area but Ballack tackles the Argentine and concedes a corner. Sneijder's cross from the flag is headed clear by Drogba.
37' Eto'o tries a volley from long-range. Zhirkov is right behind his opponent and he blocks.
34' Chelsea counter-attack and win a corner after a superb challenge on Drogba by Lucio, but nothing comes of their set piece.
33' Great chance for Eto'o. Maicon makes a strong run down the right and chips over to the far post. The Cameroonian's downwards header takes a bounce before going over the bar.
32' Drogba plays in Anelka down the right. The French striker can't get past Zanetti but somehow he gets the ball into the area, where Thiago Motta makes a vital interception.
29' Alex wastes a free kick, blasting his 40-yard effort way over the bar.
28' Sneijder's floated free kick from the right is headed away as far as Pandev, who tests Turnbull with his follow-up from long-range.
27' At the other end Alex blocks Maicon's cross-shot.
26' Maicon throws himself in front of Drogba to make a crucial block from the Ivorian.
24' Mikel is lucky to escape without caution after a challenge from behind on Sneijder.
24' Terry makes a headed clearance from Maicon's whipped right-wing cross.
22' Milito is flagged offside as he runs to collect a long ball down the left.
17' Eto'o is booked for protesting about an offside decision.
17' Drogba steps up and sees his free kick bounce back off the Inter wall.
16' Tempers flare as Drogba protests following a feet high challenge by Lucio. Stark calms them all down and awards Chelsea a free kick 30 metres from goal.
15' Sneijder directs his outswinging cross to the far post. It's just over Milito's head.
14' Eto'o brilliantly serves Maicon down the right but the Brazilian's cross is cut out by the Chelsea defence. Nevertheless, Inter win a free kick for a foul on Eto'o.
13' Ivanovic's long throw from the right wing is straight into the arms of Julio Cesar.
12' Ballack receives from Lampard about 25 yards from goal and arrows a low shot wide of Julio Cesar's right-hand post.
10' Pandev smacks the ball wide to Maicon who has acres of space on the right. The Brazilian advances to the edge of the box and blasts over.
7' Malouda weaves his way past Maicon and charges into Lucio. The Frenchman cries penalty but there was no way Stark was giving that one.
6' Samuel Eto'o crosses from the left. John Terry blocks and boots to safety.
5' Lucio does a brilliant job on Drogba, outmuscling the Ivorian before seving Eto'o with a classy back-heeled pass. Inter get the ball to Sneijder who has a shot blocked by the Chelsea defence.
4' After a cautious start by both sides Chelsea work the ball to Drogba, who is promptly intercepted in the Inter box.
1' It was friends reunited at Stamford Bridge last night, but when the whistle goes at 19:45GMT José Mourinho, Carlo Ancelotti, Inter and Chelsea will be enemies for 90 (and, possibly, 120 minutes).
1' We're under way in London as the Nerazzurri kick off. FORZA INTER!!!!!
1' Out come the teams at Stamford Bridge - Chelsea in their blue home strip and Inter in their white away one. And the atmosphere is red hot. The Champions League anthem blares out and we're seconds away from kick.off.
1' Chelsea: 22 Turnbull; 2 Ivanovic, 33 Alex, 26 Terry, 18 Zhirkov; 13 Ballack, 12 Obi Mikel, 8 Lampard; 39 Anelka, 11 Drogba, 15 Malouda.
Subs: 30 Taylor, 6 Carvalho, 10 J.Cole, 21 Kalou, 23 Sturridge, 35 Belletti, 43 Bruma.
1' Judging by his starting XI, Mourinho hasn't come to Stamford Bridge to defend a 2-1 lead. Just take a look at this:
Inter: 12 Julio Cesar; 13 Maicon, 6 Lucio, 25 Samuel, 4 Zanetti; 19 Cambiasso, 8 Thiago Motta; 10 Sneijder; 27 Pandev, 22 Milito, 9 Eto'o.
Subs: 1 Toldo, 2 Cordoba, 5 Stankovic, 7 Quaresma, 17 Mariga, 23 Materazzi, 39 Santon.
1' Inter go into tonight's clash on the back of a 3-1 Serie A defeat at Catania but in 18 months at Inter José Mourinho has never lost two games on the trot. Chelsea, meanwhile, are unbeaten in 21 UCL games, their last defeat coming at the hands of Barcelona back in 2006. Inter's Samuel Eto'o, who says he dreamt of scoring for Inter at Stamford Bridge, netted for the Blaugrana on that occasion after own goals by two other players on show tonight: Thiago Motta and John Terry.
1' Diego Milito and Esteban Cambiasso fired in the goals in the first leg in Milan to give Inter a narrow 2-1 advantage. Of the 41 European ties in which Inter have won the first leg at home, they have gone on to qualify in 37 of them. You can read more about that in the trivia section.
1' Blowing the whistle tonight is German referee Wolfgang Stark, a banker from Bavaria. We have never won a game overseen by Stark, drawing against Barcelona and Ajax, and losing to Manchester United, Valencia and Arsenal. But there's always a first time for everything.

Two clean sheets for Blues against Italian teams since win over Lazio

Chelsea haven't conceded at home to Italian clubs since Simone Inzaghi's 38rd-minute goal in their 2-1 Champions League victory over Lazio on 22 October 2003. The Blues have since faced Italian opposition on two occasions, beating Roma and Juventus 1-0 in 2008/09.

Chelsea unbeaten at home in 21 European games

The Blues have won 15 games and drawn 6 since their last European defeat at Stamford Bridge - a 2-1 reverse against Barcelona on 22 February 2006. That defeat to the Catalans is the only home loss in 36 European matches for Chelsea, who have won 22 and drawn 13 of the other 35.

Chelsea always through after 2-1 away defeat in first leg

For the fourth time in their history Chelsea go into the return leg of a European tie after a 2-1 defeat away from home in the first leg. The Blues have gone on to qualify for the successive round on all three previous occasions. They beat AC Milan 2-1 in the return leg of their Fairs Cup last 16 clash in 1965/66, eventually winning the tie on a toin coss after a 1-1 draw in the third game. In the 2004/05 Champions League they beat Barcelona 4-2 after a 2-1 defeat at the Nou Camp, and in the same competition in 2007/08 Chelsea ousted Fenerbahçe with a 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge.

No Inter goal in England since 2003

The Nerazzurri haven't scored in England since Obafemi Martins' effort in the 41st minute of the 3-0 Champions League victory over Arsenal on 17 September 2003. Inter have since played away to English teams on two occasions in Europe's top competition for clubs, losing 2-0 to Liverpool in 2007/08 and 2-0 to Manchester United in 2008/09.

Knocking out English clubs lucky for Inter

Inter have faced English teams in European competitions on 11 previous occasions, qualifying through to the next round five times and being knocked out six times. They qualified at the expense of Everton in the 1963/64 European Cup; Liverpool in the 1964/65 European Cup; Aston Villa in the 1990/91 UEFA Cup; Norwich City in the 1993/94 UEFA Cup; and Ipswich Town in the 2001/02 UEFA Cup. Inter went on to lift the European Cup in 1963/64 and 1964/65, and the UEFA Cup in 1990/91 and 1993/94. The Nerazzurri were knocked out by Birmingham City in the 1960/61 Fairs Cup; Newcastle United in the 1970/71 Fairs Cup; Aston Villa in the 1994/95 UEFA Cup; Manchester United in the 1998/99 Champions League; Liverpool in the 2007/08 Champions League; and Manchester United in the 2008/09 Champions League.

Inter through in 75% of cases after 2-1 home win in first leg

Inter go into the return leg of a European tie after a 2-1 home win from the first leg for the fifth time in their history after four qualifications and one elimination. In 1966/67 the Nerazzurri knocked out Vasas with a 2-0 away victory in the last sixteen of the European Cup. They won 2-1 away to Brage in the first round of the UEFA Cup in 1988/89, beating Spartak Moscow by the same scoreline in the 1997/98 UEFA Cup semi-finals. Inter lost 1-0 at Villarreal in the 2005/06 quarter-finals after winning 2-1 in Milan.

LONDON - Attack proved the best form of defence for Inter as José Mourinho's Nerazzurri successfully defended their 2-1 advantage over Chelsea to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

With Chelsea struggling to find the net in front of their home fans, Samuel Eto'o's pre-match dreams came true when he popped up with the winning goal twelve minutes from time to complete a 3-1 aggregate victory.

Mourinho named Pandev, Eto'o and Milito in front of Sneijder in an attacking starting lineup and the Blues had a tactical battle on their hands from the outset.

There was hardly anything between the teams in a first half in which neither goalkeeper had a save to make, with Eto'o's downwards header bouncing up over the bar and Ballack firing a low shot wide before Anelka wasted a chance in front of goal on the stroke of half time.

Chelsea's strong start to second half saw Malouda took the ball past Maicon before seeing his angled drive kept out by Julio Cesar.

The Nerazzurri replied with a sustained period of pressure, with Milito forcing a save from Turnbull before dragging a second opportunity wide, and Thiago Motta heading over Sneijder's cross.

At the heart of Inter's attacking play, Sneijder set up the winning goal on 78 minutes. He floated a cross into the path of Eto'o who took a quick touch before slotting beyond the onrushing Turnbull with the outside of his right foot.

Worse was to follow for the Blues when Drogba, already on a booking, was shown a straight red for stamping on Thiago Motta.

Eto'o went close to a second in added time when his angled shot was blocked by the legs of Turnbull.
