No league goal against Inter at San Siro for 453'

The last time Inter let in a Serie A goal at home was in the 87th minute of the 3-2 win against Fiorentina on 20 March 2005 when Ivan Cordoba turned the ball into his own net. The Nerazzurri have not conceded a goal for the remaining three minutes of that match plus the entire games against Cagliari, Siena, Livorno, Reggina last season and Treviso this term.

Five different players on target

After the first four 2004/05 Serie A matches Inter are one of three teams to have scored with five different players (Adriano, Cruz, Martins, Samuel and Stankovic). The other two are Roma and Sampdoria.

Winning bench

Inter have the second-best Serie A attack after four matches with nine goals scored (two less than Fiorentina). Julio Cruz has come off the bench to score three of those nine goals.

Martins set for milestone appearance

If he plays against Chievo on Wednesday Obafemi Martins will complete a century of appearances since coming to Italy. The Nigerian has played 62 times in the Serie A, twice in the Serie C1, 11 in the Coppa Italia, 23 in European Cup competitions and once in the Italian Super Cup. He has scored 38 goals. Oba has played for Reggiana and Inter in Italy and made his competitive debut in Reggiana's 2-0 defeat at home to Como in the Serie C1 on 14 April 2001.

Fiorentina's record-breaking attack

The two best Serie A attacks after four rounds meet at the Meazza on Sunday. Inter have scored 9 goals, two less than Fiorentina who with 11 goals from the first four matches have made a record scoring start to a Serie A season since the 'three points for a win' era began in 1994/95 (their previous best was 9 in 1997/98). The most prolific Fiorentina side after four Serie A games before 1994/95 was in 1992/93 when the Viola scored 12 goals. Incredibly, they were relegated to the Serie B at the end of that season.

Viola unbeaten since April

Fiorentina's positive run continues. The Viola have collected 8 wins and 3 draws from their last 11 competitive matches, their last defeat the 2-1 reverse t at home to Milan on 30 April 2005. And the Tuscans have scored at least once in each of their last nine matches (total 22 goals). Their last match without scoring was the Serie A goalless draw with Atalanta at the Franchi on 15 May 2005.

MILAN - It was billed as the clash of attacking titans Adriano and Toni, but it was Obafemi Martins who decided Sunday evening's Serie A Week 5 clash between Inter and Fiorentina as goalkeepers Julio Cesar and Frey stole the show with saves galore and Luis Figo illuminated the Meazza with his full repertoire of skills.

Inter's winner was the result of a spectacularly worked move on 7 minutes, started and finished by Obafemi Martins. The Nigerian speedster played short to Adriano, who spotted Luis Figo in space on the right. The Portuguese winger played first-time across the face of the six-yard box for Oba to ram home.

Sebastian Frey prevented his former club from increasing their lead with first-rate saves from Stankovic, Martins and Adriano as Inter's approach play proved devastating.

Fiorentina's best chance of the opening forty-five fell to Serie A top scorer Luca Toni, who combined with Bojinov then saw his shot superbly saved by Julio Cesar.

Prandelli's side were less creative in an Inter-dominated second half as Frey twice denied Stankovic and Brocchi made a goal-line clearance from Materazzi's header. Luis Figo went closest to increasing the lead when he dribbled the Viola defence, played a quick one-two with Martins then had his close-range shot saved by Frey's feet.

The win sees Inter close the gap on early-season leaders Juve to three points ahead of next Sunday evening's 'derby d'Italia' at the Delle Alpi. In the meantime the Nerazzurri host Scottish Premier League outfit Rangers in Matchday 2 of the Champions League on Wednesday.
