Inter unbeaten in 13 cup games

The Nerazzurri's last Coppa Italia defeat was the 2-1 loss at home to Bari on 19 December 2002. Inter have since registered 8 victories and 5 draws. Inter's longest unbeaten cup run is 20 matches between May 1986 and April 1988.

Nerazzurri on target in 10 consecutive cup matches

Inter have scored at least one goal in each of their last Coppa Italia matches (total 23 goals). The last time they failed to score was on 13 January 2004 when they drew 0-0 at Udinese.

No Nerazzurri home defeat since December 2002

Inter's last home defeat in the Coppa Italia was a 2-1 loss to Bari on 19 December 2002. Since then Inter have recorded 5 wins and a draw at the San Siro.

Inter & home goals in cup

Inter have scored at least one goal in their last 8 Coppa Italia games at home (total 19 goals). The last time they failed to score in the cup at the Meazza was on 14 December 2000 (Inter 0-0 Parma).

Roma & cup goals away from home

The Giallorossi have let in at least one goal in each of their last 13 Coppa Italia away matches (total 21 goals conceded). The last time Roma kept a clean sheet in a domestic cup away match was on 15 December 1999 (Piacenza 0-3 Roma a.e.t.).

Inter close to first cup win in 23 years

Roma-Inter is the 57th Coppa Italia final. The competition was founded in 1922 and Vado were the first winners with a 1-0 victory over Udinese after extra time. Sixteen different teams have won the tournament. Juventus are out in front with 9 cup wins, followed by Roma (7), Fiorentina (6), AC Milan and Torino (5 each), Lazio and Sampdoria (4 each), Inter, Napoli and Parma (3 each), Bologna (2) and Atalanta, Genoa, Vado, Venezia and Vicenza (1 each).

Two-legged final number 29

The Coppa Italia final format has not always been the same. In 28 cases there have been two-legged finals to decide the winners (in 1937/38, 1940/41, 1941/42, 1963/64 and 1980/81 to the present day). There has been a final group phase 3 times, and a one-match final played on a neutral ground on 25 occasions. According to the 28 two- legged final statistics, the team at home in the first leg has gone on to lift the cup on 13 occasions.

Totti among 13 Coppa final top scorers

Thirteen players top the list of scorers in Coppa Italia finals, with three goals each: Amadei, Batistuta, Bellini, Cerezo, Charles, Domenghini, Fiore, Giannini, Lushta, Mancini, Savoldi, Totti and Vialli. Three of those have scored a hat-trick in one final: Amadei (Roma 3-3 Venezia in 1941), Lushta (Juventus 4-1 AC Milan in 1942), Domenghini (Atalanta 3- 1 Torino in 1963) and Giannini (Roma 5-2 Torino in 1993).

Mancini close to Eriksson record

Sven Goran Eriksson has won more Italian Cups than any other coach, and is the only person to have done so with three different teams (Roma in 1985/86, Sampdoria in 1993/94 and Lazio in 1997/98 and 1999/00). If Inter win the cup this season Roberto Mancini will equal Eriksson's record, having already won the competition with Fiorentina in 2000/01 and Lazio in 2003/04.

Mancini & the Coppa Italia

No player has played more Coppa Italia finals than Roberto Mancini (15 appearances from AC Milan 0-1 Sampdoria on 30 May 1985 to Inter 0-0 Lazio on 18 May 2000). Mancini has also lifted more Italian Cups than any other player, (four times with Sampdoria in 1984/85, 1987/88, 1988/89 and 1993/94, and twice with Lazio in 1997/98 and 1999/00). And since he has become a coach, Mancini has added two more domestic cups, one with Fiorentina in 2001 (Parma 0-1 Fiorentina, Fiorentina 1-1 Parma) and the other with Lazio last season (Lazio 2-0 Juventus, Juventus 2-2 Lazio).

Inter & 2-0 cup wins in 1st leg

Inter defend a 2-0 away win in a Coppa Italia return leg at home for the second time in the club's history. In 1986/87 the Nerazzurri beat Empoli in the round of sixteen thanks to a 1-0 home win in the second leg.

On this day in 1941...

On 15 June 1941 Roma were beaten 1-0 by Venezia after a 3-3 home draw in the Coppa Italia final first leg. Loik's 72nd-minute goal was decisive for the Venetians.

MILAN - Inter beat Roma 1-0 at the Giuseppe Meazza for an aggregate win of 3-0 and lift the Coppa Italia for the first time in twenty-three years. Sinisa Mihajlovic added to Adriano's double from the first leg with a magnificent free kick in the second half and made sure there's only one Milanese side with silverware this season.

Francesco Toldo had a quiet opening forty-five as the Nerazzurri looked to increase their two-goal advantage more than Roma tried to reduce it. Sinisa Mihajlovic went close with a free kick after Julio Cruz had a low shot saved at full stretch by Curci. In between, Obafemi Martins had a penalty claim turned down after dribbling the Roma defence in a darting central run.

Seven minutes after the restart Mihajlovic put Inter in front with a trademark curling free kick that hit the left post, went in at the other, and left Roma needing to score three. Which proved an impossible task as Mancini's men defended with diligence, denying the Roma attack on every occasion after Cufre's sending-off in the 65th minute left the Giallorossi with a mountain to climb.

We've won the cup, and going by the atmosphere here tonight, you get the feeling times are changing for the blue half of Milan.
