APPIANO GENTILE - Hernan Crespo and Gabriel Batistuta are two great players, two great
centre-forwards and two great Argentines. The rivalry between the two players has always been an
interesting subject, not just for the Argentine press, but also for the Italian media.
Speaking
to the club's television station Inter Channel, Crespo commented, "The story began because of the
place in the national team, then it continued when we were both in Rome, but I played for Lazio and
he played for Roma. I thought this story had finished, but it hasn't. But really, there never has been
anything in particular between us. I think it was a rivalry that was very convenient for journalists.
There has always been great respect between us. During my career, I've never had any problems
with anyone and I haven't had any with him, either."
Since his arrival at Inter, Batistuta
has had to answer a thousand questions on the subject. Crespo: "Yes, but I don't think it was too hard
because we've trained together for eight years with this story."
