MACAU - Around an hour’s ferry ride from Hong Kong, Macau is the Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China – while also acting as one of the most attractive tourist destinations in south-east China. It's located on the western side of the Pearl River and boasts a population of over 600,000 inhabitants, while also receiving over 30 million tourists each year. It’s here where Inter will take on PSG on Saturday 27 July in the International Super Cup.

Macau was Europe’s last colony in Asia, previously under Portuguese control until 1999. Initially we’ll first look at the Historic Centre, which is a UNESCO heritage side. The facade of the San Paolo church stands out, which remained standing despite a fire in 1835. Largo do Senado is also one of Macau’s most notable landmarks, with the mosaic square similar to one that you could even find in Sintra, Portugal.

The Guia Fortress perhaps best represents the mix between East and West in Macau, where you not only find modern buildings but also buddhist temples. One also cannot ignore the Macau Tower, which is the tenth tallest in the world and boasts one of the most thrilling bungee jumps. Hac Sa Beach, which is a kilometre of black sand, is also another tourist attraction. In addition, Macau is also known for its casinos, often referred to as the Las Vegas of the East.

The Portuguese influence is also reflected through the local cuisine in Macau, most notably the Portuguese Egg Tart found at Lord Stows Bakery in Coloane Town Square. Another local speciality is the Pork Chop Bun. As a whole, the choice of local culinary dishes is vast and there are plenty of varied restaurants to choose from.

Inter will face PSG on the island of Taipa in Macau, where the Macau Olympic Sports Center is located. This was inaugurated in 1997 and underwent reconstruction in 2005 for the East Asian Games.
