SPALLETTI: "WE NEED TO BELIEVE IN OURSELVES"

The tactician's comments in his pre-match press conference on the eve of Inter's showdown with Empoli

APPIANO GENTILE – On the eve of Inter’s final fixture of the season, Coach Luciano Spalletti responded to questions from journalists during his pre-match press conference. This is what he had to say:

"Tomorrow’s match has the same importance as last year’s match against Lazio. There’s certainly an important emotional element to it, but we’re used to that. I think that the team have learned the right lessons to come into this match prepared to deal with the emotional factor that such a game can generate.

"Our fans love Inter, I prefer to play this match at San Siro. They know how to behave and have always behaved in the right way, remaining close to the team. The players need to try to bring satisfaction to all the fans sitting in the stands.

"Empoli are doing well at the moment. However, it's clear that sometimes high stakes can cancel out what's gone on before. You need to do well in terms of performing the best you possibly can. I hope the team manage to display all the ingredients they have shown in many games. The only thing we're focused on is bringing Champions League football back to Inter for the second time.

"Every game stirs up emotions in me. We need to believe in ourselves and show the mental strength to get a result. Results stick with you. De Vrij? He’s recovered and is available. Politano is also available for selection, almost all of them are fine. I think many of the players deserve to remain at Inter, and tomorrow evening we’ll all be there."
