VIGASIO - Sebastian De La Fuente’s Inter side finished the season in the best possible fashion on Sunday, beating Fortitudo Mozzecane 6-2. Rognoni’s hat-trick inspired all three points in Vigasio, while Costi, Baresi and Santi were also on the scoresheet. InterWomen now end the season on 64 points (21 wins and a draw), with 87 goals scored and just 12 conceded. A fantastic campaign that ensured top spot in the league standings and subsequent Serie A promotion for next season.
Inter started with great determination and took the lead in the third minute through Costi. It was 2-0 after 25 minutes when Rognoni got to the ball before the goalkeeper before finishing. Mozzecane responded and Gelmetti halved the deficit in the 32nd minute. With time running down in the half, the captain Regina Baresi added a third in the 39th minute following a brilliant piece of individual play. Before the whistle, Alessia Rognoni made it 4-1.
At the start of the second home, Irene Santi finished from a Locatelli free kick to make it 5-1. In the 80th minute, the young goalkeeper Astrid Gilardi came on to make her debut for Capelletti after a great display from here. In the 83rd minute, Rognoni got her hat-trick and made it 6-1. The hosts scored a consolation through Groff. Inter wrapped up the season with 21 wins and one draw.
