FRANKFURT - On the eve of Inter’s last 16 first leg against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League, Cedric Soares had this to say during our press conference in Germany: “It’s been a good two months for me. When given the chance to play, I always look to give my all and help the team. As for my future at the end of the season, I’ve not thought about it. Inter signed me because they had faith in me and I also have faith in myself. I always give my all, whether that be playing one minute, 20 or 90. What happens is beyond my control, but obviously I’d be very happy if I were to stay.”

As for the Nerazzurri’s chances in Europe: “Inter must aim to win in all competitions, like every big club. The Europa League is important for us because it’s an international competition, although Serie A is also a big commitment.”

When speaking about the upcoming test against a very offensive Eintracht side, Cedric added: “Every player has their own characteristics, but obviously you need to adapt to the Coach’s ideas and the way the team plays. However, if I have the chance to attack and create chances then I’ll do so. Obviously, that’s if I play.”

Their upcoming German opponents are currently enjoying a good run of form, although the full-back insisted that Inter are prepared: “They’re a really top team and they’re doing really well. We’ve studied them and we know their qualities. We know that they can pass the ball well, that they’re fast and very attacking. However, we must focus on our own abilities as a team. One thing is clear – if we play to the best of our ability then we’ll win.”

As for the anticipated atmosphere, Soares concluded: “The stadiums are always full in Germany and this gives German teams an extra push and helps them play as a team, rather than as individuals. However, we must focus on ourselves and play to our maximum.”
